Description:
This workshop aims at the development, implementation and experience of
real industrial, engineering and scientific applications on parallel systems.
Up to now, the most important task in industrial high-performance
computing has been porting and parallelization of existing real
application codes to mostly moderate parallel SMP and DMP systems. This
was clearly driven by the need to save the huge investment spent in the
past in software development, and also to further reduce development
cycles and thus time-to-market for industrial products.
On the other hand, today, we see more and more new applications for which
software and algorithms still have to be developed, and the unique chance
exists to take the new target parallel computers into account, already in
the early design phase of industrial applications.
Topics of interest include:
- existing industrial applications in CFD, FE, chemistry, and others,
- and new applications like multimedia support, data compression,
- geographical information systems, cognitive recognition, embedded systems,
- parallel design and implementation, dynamic distribution,
- computational steering, and others.
